MAC Holdings Project – GRATITUDE on 16th & 17th of May 2009
MAC Holdings Pvt Ltd through its welfare & recreation arm, namely MAC Sports Club successfully completed several community projects from its inception, including the recently concluded project, on the 16th & 17th of May 2009, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
MAC Holdings Private Limited was formed to meet customer demands together with its subsidiaries, serving in all aspects of global logistics, total transportation solutions, hospitality and leisure service requirements.
MAC as an organization has a commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). One main challenge was how to articulate that commitment to its employees and the wider community. One approach was to do it with actions and other, having a team of employees deliver a worthwhile project, communicating a positive message to clients, customers, stakeholders and colleagues, about what the organization believes in, stands for and is willing to invest in.
On that note, the company decided to improve the standards at the Kalubowila General Hospital (Colombo South Teaching Hospital) with the “Project - GRATITUDE”, targeting the Society at large. The first visit to the hospital was made on 14th February 2008 by the members of the MAC Sports Club, in order to choose a particular project and to assess the scope of work. In accordance, the committee chose to renovate “Ward No 3”, which holds more than 60 patients. This included fixing & painting ceiling fans & lights, masonry work & painting the entire ward and other ancillary work on beds, cupboards, lockers…etc. The renovation of the entire ward took place on 16th & 17th of May 2009, with the participation of over 50 employees from the company, as well as contracted workers. MAC as a company achieved a stronger bond amongst employees and the society, together with their confidence and sincere appreciation. The company also earned the respect of the people receiving treatment at this ward, as the upgrading of the existing facilities in the hospital was seen as an urgent need of the hour. The Principals, namely, Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Consultant (Ward No 3) & its staff highly commended the Company’s efforts and was extremely pleased with the completion of the project work carried out.
